Youth jobs grant launches: £3,000 towards your next recruit

Planning to recruit between now and autumn 2028?

The Government's new Youth Jobs Grant could cover some of the cost. It will provide up to £3,000 towards hiring an eligible 18–24-year-old who has been on Universal Credit for at least six months.

To qualify, the role must:

  • be paid,
  • offer at least 25 hours a week, and
  • last a minimum of four months.

How it works

  • Apply through the Find a Grant  service (around 20 minutes).
  • Approval typically takes around 10 days.
  • Once approved, started registering vacancies and Jobcentre Plus will refer eligible candidates.
  • Receive £1,800 after six weeks, followed by £1,200 after 18 weeks, once employment has been verified by the Department for Work and Pensions.
