EPR – important updates

Update One: New 1 September Deadline for pEPR Data Resubmissions.

PackUK has announced a 1 September 2026 deadline for resubmitting 2025 packaging data.

The deadline gives producers a final opportunity to review and correct any errors in their 2025 data submissions before fees are confirmed. PackUK will use the verified data to publish confirmed Year 2 (2026/27) producer fees and issue Notices of Liability later this year.

Note that the illustrative Year 2 fees published in December 2025 will not be updated. Fees published later this year will be the final confirmed figures.

Update Two: PackUK has published updates to the Recyclability Assessment Methodology (RAM) for 2027

The new methodology will apply to packaging placed on the market between 1 January and 31 December 2027. The reporting deadlines are 1 October 2027 (for first half of calendar year) and 1 April 2028 (for second half of calendar year).

Until submitting data to those deadlines, you should continue to use the current RAM (1.1) which covers the reporting period 1 January to 31 December 2026, with the submission deadlines of 1 October 2026 (H1), and 1 April 2027 (H2).

According to PackUK, RAM 2027 has been developed in response to stakeholder feedback and is intended to provide greater clarity, consistency and ease of use.

Its says the revised guidance also introduces clearer material-specific rules and thresholds, improves the structure and usability of the methodology, and strengthens the link between recyclability ratings and real-world recycling outcomes.
