Commercial’s first 50 carbon-saving energy projects deliver almost £1.5 million in annual savings

Since launching its smart and green technology offering in 2024, the business transformation specialist has delivered 53 solar photovoltaic and more than 150 voltage optimisation installations. This reflects organisations’ growing investment in technologies that reduce operating costs while supporting long-term sustainability goals. 

Across its portfolio, Commercial’s solar installations generate around 4GWh of renewable electricity per year while voltage optimisation systems save a further 2GWh. Together, the technologies are delivering annual financial savings of almost £1.5 million for clients.

One recent project saw Commercial deliver a solar installation at London’s Southbank Centre, demonstrating how renewable energy technologies can be successfully integrated into high-profile, protected built environments. Generating up to 50kWp (kilowatt peak) of renewable energy, this array will offset nearly 5% of Southbank Centre’s annual electricity use. The system is forecast to produce around 50,000kWh (kilowatt hours) annually, avoiding around 11 tonnes of CO₂e emissions in its first year of operation.

Commercial expects continued growth in renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies as organisations seek to reduce emissions and manage energy costs.

Projects to date include installations at landmark cultural venues, schools, leisure centres and public sector organisations. For example, at Hospiscare’s Searle House in Exeter, a voltage optimisation system will reduce electricity consumption by more than 7%, eliminating around 2.3 tonnes of CO2e while lowering energy costs to help the charity direct more resources to patient care.
