BOSS Lobbying Update - March 2024

The Government yesterday published its plans for the end of the Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) for businesses which comes to an end on 31 March.

The government recognises that some organisations are unable to access the Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS). This is because the EBRS delivery mechanism requires a licensed supplier in order to apply the discount.

It was a calmly delivered statement by the Chancellor, despite the lack of good news to share.

As expect, the government's approach is to boost economic growth by cutting taxes and making some regulatory changes. The government is seeking to lift the UK's annual rate of economic growth to 2.5%. To be more concise, it's all about growth, tax, and regulation. The Queen’s Speech is the annual opportunity for the Government to set out their work plan for the coming year. Today’s event took place with levels of pomp and circumstance back to their pre-pandemic glory, and with the Prince of Wales delivering the speech itself in the absence of the Queen.
