Year 1 Extended Producer Responsibility for packaging fees update
PackUK have now confirmed that there will be no change to disposal fees for Year 1 of the Extended Producer Responsibility for packaging (pEPR), which will remain as outlined in producers’ Notices of Liability in October 2025.
BOSS members had contacted BOSS with concerns due to a recent communication from PackUK regarding a potential revisit of the 2025/26 disposal fee rate due to an identified shortfall. They highlighted that as producers, who have acted in line with guidance and timelines set out by government, have already been invoiced and have set budgets based on those figures, a late-stage reassessment would be extremely disruptive and not deliver the stability and predictability expected under the EPR framework.
BOSS raised these concerns with the Department or Business and Trade who subsequently raised them with DEFRA and PackUK. We are pleased that PackUK has listened to businesses and confirmed that there will be no change to disposal fees for Year 1.
