PackUK: RAM 2027 Publication

RAM 2027 covers the reporting period 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2027, with the submission deadlines of 1 October 2027 (H1) and 1 April 2028 (H2).

Today PackUK has published an updated version of the Recycling Assessment Methodology for 2027 (RAM 2027) for large producers registered with the packaging Extended Producer Responsibility (pEPR) scheme.

Until submitting data to those deadlines, large producers under the pEPR scheme should continue to use the current RAM 1.1 which covers the reporting period 1 January to 31 December 2026, with the submission deadlines of 1 October 2026 (H1), and 1 April 2027 (H2).

Full guidance to RAM 2027 is available here on gov.uk Assess packaging recyclability: recyclability assessment methodology (RAM) 2027 - GOV.UK and we would be grateful if you could share this with all liable producers across your membership.

The new RAM 2027 responds directly to stakeholder feedback and is designed to give producers clarity and confidence by setting out a clear end-to-end approach around the four stages of recyclability

  • Collection
  • Sortation
  • Reprocessing
  • Application

It seeks to make the methodology easier to understand, more accessible and more consistent and provides clearer material rules and thresholds with improved structure and usability while strengthening the link between recyclability ratings and real-world recycling outcomes.
