New Companies House Compliance Requirements

From 18 November, Companies House will introduce a new identity verification process for company directors, aimed at deterring people intending to use companies for illegal purposes.

Anyone setting up – or already running, owning or controlling a company in the UK – will need to verify their identity. You may have already voluntarily done so, but if not, you will need to do so as a mandatory requirement after 18 November.

You can do this online using your gov.uk account, face-to-face at a Post Office or via an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (such as an accountant). If using your online gov.uk account, it’s a quick process using this link (you’ll need photo ID) and you’ll receive a Companies House ‘personal code’ that you need to keep on file.

You can read the guidance on verifying your identity for Companies House.
