Member Spotlight: Safety First Aid
BOSS welcomes Safety First Aid to membership. We caught up with the team to learn more about the business, its long-standing commitment to workplace safety and what it hopes to gain from being part of the BOSS community.
What does the business do?
Safety First Aid is a leading UK supplier of first aid products and compliance solutions, working in close partnership with trade customers, resellers, and distributors. Its extensive product portfolio includes BS 8599-1 compliant workplace kits, eye wash solutions, burns and trauma care, bleed control kits, defibrillators (AEDs), and specialist devices such as LifeVac, enabling partners to offer a complete, compliant first aid range across multiple sectors.
A strong emphasis on trade support sets Safety First Aid apart. Resellers benefit from competitive pricing, dependable stock availability, and consistent lead times, alongside comprehensive sales and marketing support. This includes detailed product data, imagery, and editable co-branded brochures that allow partners to promote products under their own brand. With dedicated account management and a collaborative approach, Safety First Aid supports partners in growing their first aid category with confidence.
When and how was the business established?
Founded in the UK in 1959, Safety First Aid began with a simple but vital mission: to provide workplaces with reliable, high-quality first aid products that meet regulatory standards. In 1972, Barbara Froomberg took ownership of the business and worked tirelessly, travelling across the country to meet suppliers at a time when female company owners were rare. Her hands-on leadership and determination helped establish Safety First Aid as a trusted name in the industry. Today, the company is led by her son, Robert Froomberg, continuing the family tradition of innovation, service, and commitment to workplace safety.
How has the business developed since its inception?
Over the decades, Safety First Aid has continued to evolve, introducing BS 8599-1 compliant workplace kits, trauma and bleed control solutions, defibrillators, and specialist products such as LifeVac. Its manufacturing remains close to its Hertfordshire headquarters, allowing the warehouse team to efficiently pick, pack, and dispatch orders. Today, under the leadership of Robert Froomberg, the company combines six decades of experience with a strong focus on supporting trade partners, resellers, and customers across multiple sectors, offering both high-quality products and dedicated commercial support.
At Safety First Aid, we are committed to sustainability and ethical practices across all aspects of our operations so by trading with us, we can help meet your sustainability objectives too.
As well as our 100% recyclable Evolution Series kits, we have made many eco friendly changes to our warehouse operation. Shrink wrap machines have been removed, we employ paper tape instead of plastic, reuse our wooden pallets and have installed solar panels on the roof.
We are an ISO 14001 company, an internationally agreed standard that sets out the requirements for an environmental management system.
What achievements or specialisms is the company particularly proud of?
