What does the business do?
Effective Consumable Solutions (ECS) are one of the UK’s leading distributors of OEM, remanufactured and compatible toner consumables, renowned for their elite remanufacturing ability as a multiple award winning organisation. ECS aims to keep the world printing by supporting distributors, resellers and office equipment suppliers throughout the UK and Europe with a keen focus on providing quality, performance and reliability across an extensive range of products including toner cartridges, ink cartridges, parts and consumables for photocopiers, printers and MFPs.
Alongside their esteemed remanufacturing ability, ECS also provide one of the foremost WEEE waste and toner cartridge recycling services in the UK; The Greener Side, offering nationwide collections, which, once again, is bolstered by a significant number of awards, achievements and accolades for their distinguished recycling solutions that have supported the industry for over a decade.
When and how was the business established?
Incorporated in 2009, Effective Consumable Solutions was first established in response to a clear gap in the market and a growing demand for cost-effective, high quality sustainable product choices. Having recognised the growing need for environmentally friendly alternatives, Directors Chris Fink and Felicity Rabbitte embarked on a journey to provide high-quality remanufactured products that reduce waste and promote sustainability in the print industry.
At the same time, ECS The Greener Side was created in order to complement the existing values of ECS by further protecting the environment and reducing waste via a WEEE waste recycling scheme. Over 15 years later, in 2025, ECS The Greener Side boasts numerous accolades and awards for its exceptional service in the recycling sector of our industry and maintains the position as one of the UK’s largest, most successful recycling services.
How has the business developed since its inception?
Since its inception, Effective Consumable Solutions has continued to expand its offering of high quality remanufactured toner cartridges across all major manufacturer brands and models, offering thousands of SKUs while maintaining their value-for-money approach and emphasis on sustainability. The organisations own in-house Research and Development Team have been significant contributors to this factor and continue to break boundaries on remanufacturing techniques.
ECS has also continued to experience significant growth and development, establishing themselves as one of the most trusted providers of OEM alternative remanufactured print consumables with the ability to cater to a broad customer base spanning from small businesses to large enterprises, both in the UK and in Europe. Constant diversification and innovation have enabled ECS to meet the evolving needs of an ever-changing, dynamic market – most recently, ECS have added to their product portfolio in the form of IT hardware products, including routers, access points, headphones and more.
