What does the business do?
Comgem is an ecommerce and back-office software provider dedicated to helping businesses grow.
We understand that a major pain point for business supplies resellers is the struggle with fragmented sales channels and the management of complex product data from multiple suppliers. We solve this by providing a comprehensive, all-in-one platform. This includes a powerful ecommerce website, a full back-office system, advanced marketing toolkits, and a dedicated mobile app—all unified to simplify your operations and drive growth.
Our platform is designed for complete flexibility: it can be used as a standalone ecommerce solution, as an ecommerce platform that integrates with your existing back office, or as a full Comgem ecommerce and back-office system.
While we have a strong and proven track record across many industries, we're one of the newer, lesser-known players in this market. We're here to give our customers the tools they need to achieve more.
When and how was the business established?
My husband, Paul, and I founded Comgem in 2004.
We saw a real need for a highly adaptable ecommerce solution that could handle the complex data and operational demands of various industries.
From the very beginning, flexibility and innovation have been our key drivers. We are both passionate about using technology to help businesses grow, evolve, and market themselves more effectively.
Creating a platform that ticks all these boxes has been really important to us, and it's an ethos that is shared by our entire team. We built Comgem with the core principle of giving customers a flexible platform that allows them to manage diverse product ranges and seamlessly integrate with any supplier, but also the flexibility to adapt and evolve their business. Our success across many different sectors has given us a deep understanding of what businesses need, and we're excited to bring that knowledge to the business supplies market.
How has the business developed since its inception?
Since 2004, Comgem has evolved from a focused ecommerce provider into a truly comprehensive business management platform. Our development has always been driven by listening to our customers and tackling their real-world pain points, such as the struggle with fragmented data and multiple legacy systems. We've continuously enhanced our software to include a full back-office system, advanced marketing tools, and a mobile app to support modern business operations. I'm particularly proud of how we've refined our data mapping tools, which give our customers unparalleled flexibility to work with any supplier's data, overcoming a major industry challenge and allowing them to focus on what they do best.
What achievements or specialisms is the company particularly proud of?
I'm incredibly proud of our platform’s versatility, which is demonstrated by its success across many different sectors. This flexibility is what makes us a unique and valuable partner for business supplies companies. We solve a key pain point for resellers—differentiating themselves in a crowded market—by providing integrated marketing tools designed to help our customers stand out. We give them the tools to create their own branded bundles and starter kits, making things easier for the end user and helping our customers truly distinguish their offering.
Our comprehensive data mapping tools are another key specialism. They allow us to support data from diverse sources, giving our customers the freedom to work with any supplier. We're also proud of our flexible approach: our platform can either serve as a full, end-to-end system for an entire business or integrate seamlessly with an existing back-office system, for customers who don’t want to make the full leap.

That’s why we have a detailed 9-step onboarding process to ensure a smooth transition, followed by a post-go-live hypercare phase where we provide dedicated support. Why has the company decided to join BOSS?
I decided that Comgem should join the BOSS Federation to strengthen our connections within the business supplies industry.
For a while now, we have been called "one of the best kept secrets" in this market. We've proven our platform's value across many sectors, and now we want to become a mainstream player in business supplies.
We believe that by building strong relationships and learning from key manufacturers and resellers in the UK, we can make a real contribution. We are passionate about innovation and support, and we believe we have something a little different from what is already out there. Joining BOSS will allow us to not only share our expertise in ecommerce and business management to help drive the industry forward but also give our customers the tools they need to differentiate themselves in a competitive market.
What aspects of BOSS’s offerings is the company most looking forward to utilising, and why?
I'm personally looking forward to the networking and educational opportunities that BOSS provides. Engaging with other members will give us invaluable views into the specific needs of the business supplies market, allowing us to continue refining and developing our platform to meet those needs.
