BOSS Federation special interest group, the Rubber Stamp Manufacturers Guild, are trying to raise awareness of identity fraud in local areas.

They are calling on all Police and Crime Commissioners to include actions to deal with identity fraud on their local crime plans at the elections in May 2016.

An effective response to identity fraud will:

• Increase co-operation from the business community and general public
• Allow faster detection of criminal activity by using both national and local data resources
• Give more cost-effective detection and prosecutions
• Allow you to reduce other crime types in your area which are the result of identity fraud
• Provide support for the victims of this crime
• Give a more accurate indicator of the scale of identity fraud as an enabler for serious organised crime

The CIFAS Fraudscape report 2014, highlighted 276,993 reported frauds, which was an increase of 25% on 2013. Therefore we are lobbying to make tackling identity fraud a priority over the next five years.
