The partnership between the BOSS Federation & Comic Relief began with a chance meeting at a Society of Old Friends dinner in March 2011, where Geoffrey Betts of Stewart Superior met Angela Rippon, one of Comic Relief's ambassadors. The idea grew from their conversation of the office products industry supporting those children in Africa who have no education, no food and no prospect of climbling out of the poverty trap. And we now have a strategy which you can all contribute to.

Thanks to Comic Relief we were put into contact with the African Educational Trust (AET) who are a NGO serving the poorest children in Africa. Thanks to Alan Ball at Spicers we have been offered warehousing and distribution facilities at Spicers Greenwich depot; and thanks to DHL who have offered distribution direct to the AET in Southern Sudan.

The AET will ensure that items donated will be distributed to those children in dire poverty, who have no hope of supporting themselves or their families without a proper education. These children need the educational tools to develop a sustainable and economic future for themselves and for future generations to come.

What can you do?

• Donate the excess stocks that often go to landfill
• Donate those products that were over ordered
• Donate those returns not in original packaging that cannot be resold
• Donate those products at the end of their shelf-life but still in good working order

Spicers will require all product to be on standard pallets and these should be shrink wrapped in film, with a clear flag marked 'Comic Relief'. Each pallet should have a full list of what is on the pallet and this will need to be in duplicate as a copy will be required for the freight forwarding company.
